Welcome to the online home of 5th String Berkeley!
We specialize in fine acoustic stringed instruments including guitars, banjos, ukeleles and mandolins. In addition to stocking one of the most extensive collections of Martin guitars in northern California, we proudly feature a number of other lines including Blueridge guitars, Ohana ukeleles, Kentucky and Loar mandolins, and Deering and Goldtone Banjos. We also have a variety of used and vintage instruments including many consignment pieces. We take great pride in the instruments we stock and try to feature only the best we can find at every price point.
Our teachers are all professional musicians who specialize in a wide range of styles and teach out of the shop. Give us a call or drop in and we'll be happy to recommend the right one for you!
We perform various repairs and adjustments, generally while you wait, and if we can't fix it we can recommend trusted luthiers who can. It's a good idea to call ahead to make sure a repair person is in the shop.
